Red Sox Players With Massachusetts City/Town Names
This is the list I have been able to come up with. I used 2 sources of information, Baseball Reference’s list of all Red Sox players (batting and pitching), and Wikipedia’s list of all Municipalities in Massachusetts. I took all that data and cross referenced it through excel, and then removed duplicates to come up with the 35 players below.
There are also several guys who played who had names similar, but are spelled slightly differently. Examples of this are Barr/Barre or Hansen/Hanson, Lester/Leicester or Beckett/Becket. Those are not included here because they don’t directly match.
I think the most common and popular ones known to the majority of all current Red Sox fans are Bill Lee, Carl Everett, Tim Wakefield, Mike Lowell and Fred Lynn.
