2 Thumbs Up!
I’d like to give 2 solid thumbs up to the Sekonda Watch Company. I purchased a watch made by them in 2006 on my way home from Ireland with my leftover Euros that I just needed to get rid of instead of trying to get them exchanged back.
I love the watch and it treated me well for a couple years, but the band began to crack after about 2.5 years, so I stopped wearing it all the time for fear of it breaking completely.
Turns out the bands are made special for each model watch they make, they don’t use a standard band so I can’t just go into a store and buy a new band to put on it. On top of that, there are no dealers for Sekonda here in the US, which makes it even tougher to get a new band, or so I thought.
Last Tuesday I sent an email to their “info” email address and included a photo of the front and back of my watch, asking if they carried and sold the replacement bands for them still. I got an email back the next day with some contact information from the manager of the materials department who had identified which watch I had, and checked inventory and told me he had bands in stock, and how much they would be to have them shipped to me.
One 10 minute phone call later, I had purchased 2 bands from them via credit card over the phone, and then I followed it up with an email with my billing and shipping addresses, just in case there was a misunderstanding on the phone. They mailed them out that day(Wednesday 5/13) and I recieved them today(Monday 5/18).
I am impressed, like, really impressed! and it only cost me 23 Euros including shipping… which is somewhere right around $30 US. So $15 a band, which to me is totally acceptable considering I love the watch, and the bands were shipped all the way from England to get to me.
Now here’s the real question… Do I see how long it takes me to figure out how to install the new bands, or do I take it somewhere to be installed for me? I am guessing I will give it a hour before I give up and take it somewhere…

Anyway, I am sure you are all aware of the drama dealing with my car last October and how the engine went kablooey, without the actual kablooey anyway.
But as of this past Friday, I am told that the new engine that I went and put a deposit on will be arriving at the dealership(New dealership versus the shitty one that fucked me over) this up coming Thursday or Friday, and they will start putting it in my car on Monday morning, and should be done by the end of the week barring any freaky problems.
How awesome is that? I will once again have my car back! My kick ass car that I really do love!!
YAY ME!

So the new things going on with me….
I forgot to mention before that I got a new lawnmower a couple weeks ago, WITH A BAG ON IT!!!
Also, I got a new cell phone today, I am officially caught up to date with a phone that has both bluetooth, AND a camera as part of it!
And then the biggest news of all!
I AM PREGNANT!!!
no, not really, but the actual big news is that the new windows I purchased about a month ago will be installed this Friday in my house!! WOOOOOHOOOO!!!!
Hopefully this will help keep the heating bills down this up coming winter, as well as help reduce the number of bugs that like to fly in through the terrible screens and holey windows I currently have.
yay yay yay yay
ooooo I also had the new couch and chair delivered last friday, so this will be 2 fridays in a row of new stuff at my house!!
so exciting!
Now if I could only get that flower bed area finished off and the brush cleaned up…..

When you buy a new lawnmower, and you need to put fuel in it.
Make sure that you are actually putting unleaded gasoline into it, and not diesel fuel.
I had forgotten that I had a canister of diesel in the garage and was a bit throw off when I saw the gas was blue as I added it to the new lawnmower I bought last night.
OOPS
then it wouldn’t start and I remembered that car diesel is blue, and home heating fuel is red…. shit…
so I flip it over, drain it out, and add new regular unleaded fuel to it… and then holy crap…. talk about an arm workout while pulling the starter pull cord for 50 or 60 starts to work out the little bit of diesel I wasn’t able to drain out due to it being primed into the fuel lines….
damn
Nice Cool, New Toy, With Great Timing!
So I broke down and bought myself a Slingbox…
If you know what they are, they are pretty damn cool, if you do not, well here comes the techie explanation.
It is a small component that I have plugged in at home, it connects to my cable line, and then has a network cord that connects to my router for internet access.
Now, anytime I have an internet connection, I can turn on the Slingbox software, and it will connect me to the slingbox sitting at my house and I can watch tv on my laptop using that cable connection. Neat huh? So now, while I am stuck at the airport, I can watch tv, any channel I have at home, I can flip through and watch.
The key thing and first reason for buying this device is for Red Sox games. Since I am traveling all of the time I miss an absolute ton of games since they are either not nationally televised or I am in an area that has no NESN service, not to mention missing out on the day games because I am at work.
NO LONGER A PROBLEM!

Warning For You Fans of 80’s Technology
So… I was relayed a story from a friend earlier tonight and it should serve as a warning for any of you out there who may use this product.
So it was late in the night and alcohol had been involved, but the passion would not be stopped by anything as minor as that…. it was hot, it was rough, it was sweaty and bodies were entangled and slapping with the hardcore lust of two individuals engulfed in the passion….
Then, something weird started to happen… the light across the room began to turn itself off and then on again, over and over…. at first it was ignored, but then it was noticed… and then the laughing and degradation of the moment began…. and the light stopped blinking on and off….
This light….
This small insignificant little light in the corner was turning off and on because of the lust between these individuals… and not because of the banging and movement of the bed causing the light plug to jiggle in and out of the wall….
it was caused by the noise… the hot passionate collision of bodies was making a slapping sound… almost like someone was clapping… yes… clapping… clap on, clap off, THE CLAPPER!!!
So yes, all of you out there who use this vital tool of 80’s television ads be warned, if you use the clapper, then you too could be subjected to uncontrollable turning off and on of the lights in your room if you engage in rough, passionate sex!!!

Ok, so the kitchen is like 85% done now….
This is what is looked like when I got home last night…..
These are shots partially done with today….
And this is what it looks like right now….. The woods sticking up are just bracings holding the back splash tight against the wall while the “Liquid Nails” dries, they are not permanent.

So…. tomorrow I will finish up the sanding of the areas I had to joint compound, and then try to get some of it painted and probably work on the lights a little. I have 6 small recessed lights that will be going into the ceiling and that hideous light in the middle will be coming out, I am putting a ceiling fan in there and then gonna get a hanging light fixture of some sort to go over the sink…. I will also be putting in the sink tomorrow, and hooking up the plumbing for that – FUN!
Any suggestions are welcome, I am not totally sure what to do for a back splash under the upper cabinets, laminate, tile, or just paint… it is up in the air right now and will just be primed and painted in a nice white color.
This really is like the coolest thing I have done so far!!
Now for the rest of the rooms………
