The Pimp New Stove

I finally did it, went and bought a new stove for the kitchen.

I figure, it was mid October when the old oven died, it is about time to get a new stove for the kitchen, right?

This thing is sweet, glass sealed cook top, dual ovens, convection in the large oven, timed bake, and so many other cool functions!

PLUS Dan hooked me up so I was able to save some serious cash on it.

Mrs Frugal, aka the mother like parental unit, was shocked I would spend so much on a stove, especially since what I saved is enough to purchase a whole stove, just one not as nice as this one!!!

Can you have a household appliance as a life partner? can I get a tax deduction for it as a dependent?

First Day on the Job!

ok, so not really.

Big corporation with paperwork and different levels, so I have not started yet, I technically am officially starting tomorrow, however my boss just told me to work from home and fill out the paper work that will be arriving by FedEx tomorrow.

When I asked him what he wanted me to do working from home, he told me to do whatever I wanted, fill out the paperwork, do some laundry, catch up on TV, not a big deal either way.

He has to order me a laptop, blackberry, cell phone, and a couple other things anyway for me to really do any work, which should all be ready for Wednesday when I will actually go into work.

Wow, rough huh?

So today I went down to Foxwoods, got up at 5am and drove down.

No, I am not a compulsive gambler, I went down for a Poker Tournament that starts at 8am, registration starts at 7, and there is a cutoff for number of people who can play, so I wanted to make sure I got in.

I got in no problem, but they cut it off at 220 people. I played pretty well for my first tournament down there, I would have gotten money had it been a 250 person tournament, but with only 220 I just missed out on it. I was somewhere in the mid 40’s for my place, which means about 170-180 people got the boot before me, and I successfully knocked out 4 people at my table before I got the boot. I was stupid on one hand when I had a 9/10 suited, and a 9/10 were on the board as high cards, so I played it with people. Only real problem was that I failed to realize there was also a 7/8 on the board, and the 2 other guys both had Jacks so they beat me and split the pot.

All in all it was fun, I went and learned how to play Pai Gow poker afterward, and made back $20, then went and played some Caribbean Stud and some Let It Ride to make back the other $40 of the $60 from the tournament, so I come home only down the cost of gas, and the $4 I spent on Papa Gino’s halfway home for lunch.

Not a bad trade off for 5 hours of entertainment!

Hagan’s Grille – Hampton, NH

Went to dinner here on Friday night, spur of the moment kind of thing since I was up there anyway, needed dinner, did not want to get Domino’s like the group of people at the house were planning on and it was just mentioned to my friend Jenn by the hairdresser she had been at just a short time earlier.

So Jenn went on her date, so me and her roomate Kelly went to check it out, it was either that or go to the same restaurant as Jenn and her date and harass them, we decided to save that for another time when we can go as a group of 5 or 6 to harass her and her date.

The prices were a tad higher than expected for somewhere in Hampton, however the atmosphere, and food blew our minds! Very much worth the money!

They start you off with bread and butter like most places, except they definitely bake this bread themselves and the butter was no ordinary butter, it was whipped with red pepper and sage(I think). Very tasty.

Appetizers looked good, but we passed on them, maybe another time.

I had a cup of the mussel and roasted corn chowder – excellent!!

Then for my main course I had the spinach and garlic raviolis in a lobster citron sauce which was absolutely awesome as well.

Kelly had the haddock wrapped in parchment, which was a nice slice of haddock wrapped in parchment paper along with julienne vegetables and steamed. It was very good as well, very tender and sort of unique to eat with the way it was prepared. It came with grilled zucchini and garlic mashed potatoes which were quite good as well.

Portions were good sized, enough to make you feel full without the feeling of busting a gut if you finished your entire plate.

There was a live band playing while we were there, 2 guitarists and a stand up bass, it gave it some nice atmosphere and was much better than any canned music from a speaker system.

Long wine list and a full bar, but we only had water and sodas.

$40 for 2 people, probably $60 if you each have a real drink and an appetizer, but well worth it in the end.

Also, not a place to take children to.

So My Neighbor is a Dinkus

So everyone knows about the snow we got last Monday I think it was, 6 or 7 inches and then some rain on top of it.

So I was not working so I wait til it stopped to go out and shovel, Why shovel more than once right?

So I am out there, I have 24-28 inches at the end of my driveway from the plows plowing the street so I am out there shoveling and busting my ass shoveling out the end of my driveway since the roomie is at work. I see my neighbor come outside and climb into his Bobcat, and clear his driveway, and the neighbor’s driveway directly across from his driveway.

He looks at me, and waves and shouts hello.

Then parks the bobcat and goes inside his house.

What the hell?!?!

Help a guy out!!!!

Cold day in hell when he gets any help from me with anything anymore!

The New Year

And so the New Year begins…. and the previous one certainly went out in an interesting fashion!!

So this new year begins a new phase, plans, changes, new ideas and new goals.

A possible return to the old standby who has always been there for me, or pherhaps a new adventure into the world which I went to school for. We will know soon enough.

The driving is great, and the couriering was awesome money, but it is not an easy life and I think my butt is beginning to not like me very much for all the sitting.

I shall be getting in shape, I have spent too long ignoring my own personal health and will be going back to a regular system of working out, eating much better, and definitely cutting the Soda out of my diet, I started this before the new year though and am almost tolerant of Diet Coke at the moment, but more sparkling water is in my future to say the least!

To friends, to family, to everyone, it will be a great year, onward, upward, let’s see where we end up!!
